Acceptable Use Policy
Rules intended to protect SonicPCS customers, network resources, and the broader Internet community.
Effective: September 23, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to Internet access and related network services provided by Sonic Spectrum, Inc. under the SonicPCS brand. It is part of the Terms of Service. Customers are responsible for activity originating from their connection, account, or assigned network resources, including activity by household members, employees, guests, servers, and compromised devices.
1. Lawful use
You may not use Sonic services to violate applicable federal, state, local, or international law; facilitate fraud; infringe intellectual-property rights; distribute unlawful material; make unlawful threats; unlawfully harass others; or assist another person in doing so.
2. Network and system security
You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, devices, or data; defeat authentication or access controls; scan or probe systems without authorization; distribute malware; operate botnets; launch denial-of-service attacks; spoof addresses or routing information for a deceptive or harmful purpose; or interfere with the security or operation of Sonic or another network.
You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to secure devices connected to the service. Sonic may temporarily restrict or isolate a device or connection that is infected, compromised, misconfigured, or generating traffic that threatens network stability or other users.
3. Spam, abusive messaging, and mail systems
You may not use the service to send unsolicited bulk messages, operate an open mail relay, distribute phishing messages, transmit malware, falsify message headers for a deceptive purpose, or continue sending messages to a recipient who has clearly asked you to stop when doing so would violate applicable law.
Sonic may apply reasonable anti-spam, reputation, rate-limit, or security controls to protect customers and network resources. Customers operating legitimate mail systems are responsible for proper authentication, security, reverse DNS where applicable, and compliance with anti-spam laws and industry standards.
4. Copyright and other intellectual property
You may not use Sonic services to reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, display, transmit, or make available copyrighted or other protected material without authorization when authorization is legally required. Sonic may process infringement notices, preserve records as required by law, and suspend or terminate accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. See the Copyright & DMCA Policy.
5. Resale and redistribution
Residential service may not be resold, redistributed to unrelated premises, or used to operate an Internet-access business without Sonic’s written approval. Ordinary in-home Wi-Fi sharing with household members and guests is permitted. Business customers may provide ordinary guest Wi-Fi for patrons or visitors unless a service order states otherwise, but may not resell Sonic Internet access as a carrier or ISP without written authorization.
6. Servers, remote access, and high-impact applications
Personal servers, remote-access tools, cameras, VPNs, game servers, and similar uses are permitted when they are lawful, secure, consistent with the customer’s service plan, and do not materially interfere with the network or other customers. Commercial hosting, public proxy services, traffic-relay services, or applications that create unusual operational or abuse risk may require a business service or written approval.
7. Addressing and network configuration
You may not use an IP address, MAC address, routing announcement, or network identifier that Sonic did not assign or authorize where doing so interferes with service, impersonates another user, bypasses controls, or disrupts routing. Static IP service, reverse DNS, routing, and other advanced features are available only where specifically provisioned.
8. Excessive or harmful use
Sonic does not prohibit ordinary high-bandwidth uses such as streaming, backups, software downloads, gaming, or cloud applications merely because they use significant data. Sonic may, however, take reasonable and generally temporary action when a customer, device, application, attack, or configuration materially degrades service for others, exhausts shared resources, threatens network stability, or creates an abuse or security event.
Any such action will be guided by the Network Management & Internet Transparency disclosure and applicable law.
9. Enforcement
Depending on the circumstances, Sonic may contact the customer, request corrective action, block or rate-limit specific harmful traffic, quarantine or suspend a device or account, remove hosted material where legally required, or suspend or terminate service. Sonic may act immediately when reasonably necessary to stop an attack, protect customers, comply with law, or preserve network integrity.
Good-faith security research or troubleshooting that you are authorized to perform is not prohibited merely because it uses diagnostic tools. If you are unsure whether a planned activity is appropriate on Sonic’s network, contact Sonic first.
10. Reporting abuse
To report abuse involving the SonicPCS network, contact Sonic Spectrum, Inc. at 815-904-8700 or through the customer support portal. Copyright complaints should follow the separate DMCA procedure.
